  • This is an “Open Chili” competition. Prepare your chili however you like using whatever ingredients you like. You cannot use canned, “store bought” chili. Chili must be made from scratch.  (You can’t throw 8 cans of Wolf Brand chili in a pot, throw some spices in there and call it your chili)
  • Chili must be made the day of the competition, on the KC grounds, (you can’t prepare the chili elsewhere and bring it to the competition).
  • Teams should make enough chili for judging AND to serve guests after competition. Only After judging is complete, may you may begin serving your chili to the public.
  • Be ready to submit your entry by 4:00 pm sharp! Judging will begin as soon as all chili samples are collected.
  • Bowls will be sold for $4.00 each ($20.00 max per family), after judging is complete so that you can walk around and sample as much chili as you would like! (Net proceeds will be given to charity)
  • Chili cook-off director (Mark Mize), has final decision regarding any conflicts that might arise.

Not a bad idea to serve Fritos, cheese, crackers, etc. at your table when serving the public.

There is no competition this year for “best decorated” serving area, but feel free to decorate if you wish.

Your best choice is to cook with gas.  While there may be some limited extra electricity available, don’t plan on it.  And please do not bring loud generators – you will be heckled and rotten vegetables will be thrown at you

It’s not a bad idea to bring a canopy tent.  You never know what the weather might be like.

We will have water, kool aid and sodas available.

Here is a sampling of some of our entertainment for this year!  (Sorry for the shaky video…I couldn’t stop tapping my feet to the beat!
